Posted by Edison on December 4, 2007I’ve written a post on my mummy’s membership website before, if u miss out, just click here.
Since I noticed that lots of people are interested in this topic, so today, I’m going to talk more on the membership website!
So far as I know, Joomla is the most useful open source software that i encountered! It is really powerful and user friendly
For someone who knows nothing about programming, Joomla really helps in this sense!
What is Joomla! ?
Joomla! is an award-winning Content Management System (CMS) that will help you build websites and other powerful online applications. Best of all, Joomla! is an open source solution that is freely available to everybody. It is very easy to setup and you don’t need to worry about the template layout or design, coz you can download it free from many other website! To download Joomla, click here.
For those who is new to Joomla, I would be sharing with you every step that my mummy went thru. So, don’t worry and stay tune to check out every single step!
1st, to install a Joomla, you will need to have your own hosting! And of course, a domain name! Click here to see how to setup a Joomla in your own hosting.
When you have successfully install Joomla on your site, you might want to change the default template! Sign up as a member and get more Free templates here!
Log in to your administrator area, go to the “Installers” > Templates - Site, then upload the template file that you’ve downloaded, remember, it should be in a “zip” file!
After you have successfully uploaded the template, go to “Site” > Template Manager > Site Templates, choose your template and set it to default.
From the “Modules” > Site Modules, you can see the modules inside your template. You can position them to different position or reorder them. To change the content inside the modules, go to “Content” > All Content Items, you will see all your content in your new template. Click on it and change it to your own content!
Basically there are few main content you will need to change. First, the “Welcome To …” content. Second, the “Newsflash 1″ & “Newsflash 2″ content. Third, the “Example FAQ”. You will also need to change other module’s content too. But don’t worry, it is only a simple job!
Go and try it out now!
For more? Sure! I’ll talk more on this…Stay tuned!
